The time will arrive soon to nominate your colleagues for the 2021 CMEA Honor Awards. Nominations open on August 1, 2020 and close on September 16, 2020. The timeline for submission of awards along with a link to each award nomination form is listed below. CMEA Past President- Butch Eversole has agreed to serve as the Honor Awards Chair. Self-nominations for the CMEA 25-year Service Award will also follow the same timeline as the above awards. The only difference is that all completed forms should be scanned and emailed in PDF format to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Take note- if you have already submitted a nomination form using last year’s form CMEA will honor these nomination forms and there is no need to resubmit a new form.
CMEA Hall of Fame
The CMEA Board of Directors established the Colorado Music Educators Hall of Fame at the 1984 Spring Board meeting:
Recognizing the invaluable service and sacrifices given by members of the profession in bringing the best in music education to young people, we do hereby honor that service with the establishment of the Colorado Music Educators Hall of Fame
To be eligible, the candidate must:
- be or have been an active member of CMEA;
- have served in an active role in music education in Colorado for a period of no less than twenty (20) years;
- have demonstrated excellence in teaching or administration in music;
- have contributed significantly to the betterment of the profession through exemplary service or acts, and;
- have demonstrated the highest ideals and served as a professional role model.
Induction to the Hall of Fame may also be done after retirement and posthumously.
CMEA Outstanding Young Music Educator Award
The Award for Outstanding Young Music Educator is presented by the Colorado Music Educator Association to honor educators who are in their first five years of teaching and have shown significant proficiency in the classroom and respect in their school community. This award recognizes notable commitment to the art of teaching as well as a demonstrated ability to achieve excellence.
CMEA Honor Administrator Award
Colorado music educators are invited to nominate an administrator from their school system as a candidate for the CMEA Honor Administrator Award. This award program recognizes chief school administrators who have demonstrated a continuing philosophical and financial commitment to the cultural arts curriculum through their leadership in developing, improving, and supporting arts education (and particularly music education) within their school system.
CMEA Exemplary Service to Music Education Award
The Exemplary Service to Music Education Award is presented by the Colorado Music Educator Association to honor individual(s) or organizations that have made a significant commitment to supporting and/or furthering the growth of music education in the State of Colorado. This award recognizes notable contributions to the music education profession through leadership, service, and advocacy.
CMEA Award for Music Advocacy
The Award for Music Advocacy is presented by the Colorado Music Educator Association to honor individuals or organizations that have made a significant commitment to supporting and/or furthering the growth of music education in the State of Colorado through their advocacy efforts. This award recognizes notable contributions to the music education profession through leadership, service, and advocacy.
CMEA 25 year Service Award
CMEA will recognize CMEA members who have been a part of the Music Education profession in Colorado for 25 years or more during the next CMEA Clinic/Conference.
