Colorado Elementary All State Choir

Colorado Elementary All-State Choir (CEASC) is open to elementary students from across Colorado who will be in 4th and 5th grades, and 6th grade if the Elementary School includes 6th graders. This event exists to provide an opportunity for singers to join voices in a large ensemble and sing fine choral literature under the baton of nationally recognized clinicians. Students join together to demonstrate their ability to meet the performance requirements of the Colorado Department of Education and to encourage each other in the unique art of choral singing. Singers are selected by their school music teacher, a member of Colorado Music Educators Association. Each school is invited to bring six students. All directors who have students auditioning or participating must be an active member of CMEA at the time of audition and participation.

Participation Fee – $55 per student

Colorado Middle All State Choir

Colorado Middle All State Choir offers 7th and 8th grade students in Colorado a chance to audition for one of our three elite ensembles: Women’s Choir, Treble Choir, and Men’s Choir. Designed to be a transition between the Elementary and High School All State models, CMASC requires students to audition with a prepared piece, as well as demonstrate their technical skills, but ensures students from all CMEA Districts have representation at the event. The two-day event is held at the Colorado Convention Center, where students have the opportunity to sing with other talented, motivated, and dedicated singers, as well as learn from elite clinicians from around the country. The culminating concert is held on the final evening in the 5,000 seat Bellco Theatre and is open to the public. All directors who have students auditioning or participating must be an active member of CMEA at the time of audition and participation.

Audition Fee: $25 per student
Participation Fee: $40 per student

We hope to start a TB choir soon! Students go through a three-step audition process. The students that are selected (16 per group) then participate in the choir event in January at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, where the rehearsals and concert are a part of the CMEA conference. Students get to work with nationally and globally known vocal jazz artists as their clinicians, and often go on to participate in vocal jazz programs in universities around the United States. All directors who have students auditioning or participating must be an active member of CMEA at the time of audition and participation.

Colorado All State Orchestra

The Colorado All State Orchestra has been providing memorable performance opportunities for the state’s top high school musicians since 1952. Conductors have programmed staples of classic orchestral repertoire as well as contemporary literature. Colorado ASO is a direct extension of the many high school instrumental music programs across the state of Colorado. ASO is supported by these programs, and as a result, being a member of a school ensemble is a requirement for a Colorado ASO audition. All directors who have students auditioning or participating must be an active member of CMEA at the time of audition and participation.

Who is Eligible?
Colorado All State Orchestra (ASO) auditions are open to students enrolled in grades 10-12. ASO is sanctioned by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) and governed by CHSAA eligibility policy. In order to participate in the ASO event, the student must be enrolled in a high school instrumental music program. Homeschooled students and students who attend a high school that does not offer music must enroll and actively participate in a curricular high school music program in order to be eligible to audition for ASO. This participation requirement is enforceable at the time of audition, and at the time of the event. Participation in private, extracurricular youth orchestra programs does not fulfill this requirement.

Audition Fee – $35 per student
Participation Fee – $65 per student
